What is a Zone Control System?
Zone control systems are heating and air conditioning systems that heat or cool certain areas of your house instead of maintaining comfortable temperatures throughout the entire house at once. This helps save energy and money on utility bills. It also puts less strain on your heating and cooling system. If you are building a new house, or considering an upgrade for an older forced air heating and central AC system, zone control is a great option if you want to improve the efficiency of your system and your overall home.
Zone Control System Installation Process
First, we install dampers inside the ductwork. These dampers are controlled by a central control board that works with each thermostat, which are installed separately for each “zone” that you choose in your home. If you aren’t using that room or area, the dampers are closed so that there’s no air going to that zone. This is not the same as simply closing off vents or shutting doors to unused rooms. Doing this doesn’t allow for proper airflow, and zoning systems ensure that your system has the right amount of airflow and that the air inside the ductwork is pressurized for optimal performance.
